ABOUT the ROLE


We are looking for a Database Engineer contributing to innovative solutions for multiple database platforms running on Public and Private Cloud. The core aspects of this role lie on maintaining and supporting in a secure and stable way database platforms for all Swiss Re business applications.


The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Design, evolve and maintain multiple database platforms
  • Create, develop and own data pipelines to move data across multiple systems
  • Automate data processes and improve overall code base
  • Build and run responsibilities working in an operational setup
  • Build close relationship with SwissRe Group IT and Data services

ABOUT the TEAM


You will be joining a dynamic, very dedicated, and cross-functional Database team located between Zürich and Bratislava within the Global Technology Services department. The team has the overall responsibility of engineering and running the internal enterprise database platforms.


ABOUT YOU


Minimal requirements

  • University degree in IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical Database Administrator (DBA) skills
  • 4+ years' experience in Oracle or Postgres technologies
  • 2+ years' using Azure public cloud and/or any private clouds.
  • Understanding of SQL/Oracle
  • Experience with ITIL concepts, platforms running in operational mode
  • Commitment to quality, care for detail and solution oriented
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn
  • English language proficiency

Preferable requirements

  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL
  • Any Oracle Certifications is a plus
  • Microsoft Azure Certifications is also a bonus
  • Existing experience or excited for the opportunity to learn about machine learning, statistical modelling, etc
  • Savvy in or curiosity about Database reliability engineering and/or chaos engineering
  • Experienced in infrastructure as code is an advantage, preferred one or more of the following (PowerShell, Puppet, Golang, Terraform, API's)
